At approximately 2000 hours on Nov 10, 2006 NJSAR received a mutual aid request from West Jersy K-9 on an active search for a 68 year old grandmother and 5 year old grandchild who had gone hiking in the area of Worthington State Forest and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. National Park Ranger Dispatch advised they had sufficient resources responding and asked that NJSAR be on standby in case search continued on Saturday. Subjects were located in good condition about 10pm on Friday night.

NJSAR received a request at 0345 through the Federation of SAR teams of the State of New York to assist PA State Police in a search for a missing man who was mentally challenged. NJSAR responded to Hawley PA and assisted on search. Man had fallen into a deep ravine and was located by a police helicopter.

NJSAR was requested by Ringwood PD to assist in a search in Ringwood State Park for 2 adult female hikers who had called on cell phone that they were unable to find way back to car. NJSAR was cancelled enroute as PD was able to locate them by shouting and they then walked out.

NJSAR responded to a request shortly before midnight on Oct. 9, 2006 from Independence Township PD in Warren Co. NJ to assist in a search for a 42 yr. old man who was mentally challenged as a result of an old brain injury. He had walked off from his residence. NJSAR, East Penn SAR, NJ Initial Response Team, Central Jersey Technical Rescue, Sussex County Sheriff, Warren County Emergency Management, and Salvation Army assisted on the incident. He was found safe and sound around 0630 on the morning of 10/10.

NJSAR was requested at 0219 to respond to a search in Vernon Township for an overdue hiker that while following his dog became entangled in heavy rhododendron and was unable to disentangle himself. He had requested help via cell phone. He was reached at 0430 and was out of woods by 0700. West Milford Search and Rescue and Vernon FD and PD also responded to the search.

NJSAR received a search request from the New York State Federation of Search and Rescue for a search in Jefferson County, NY. NJSAR declined to dispatch because of the distance.

NJSAR responded to a request from NY FEDSAR to Indian Lake in Adirondacks on June 24 and 25th to assist in a search for a missing adult male camper/photographer. Some NJSAR personnel were transported by helicopter to back country to hike out with a State Forest Ranger. Victim has not been located and search was scaled back by the Forest Rangers on June 27.

NJSAR received a search request from the New York State Federation of Search and Rescue for a search in Sand Lake, NY for a missing 43-year old man. The man was found before NJSAR was dispatched.

NJSAR received a standby request from the New York State Federation of Search and Rescue for a search in Cranberry, NY for a missing 58-year old man. The man was found before NJSAR was dispatched.

At 1900 hours 05/27/06 NJSAR received a standby request for a search in Hardyston, NJ first thing Sunday morning. Four officers responded to the search to prepare plans for the following morning. At 2130 hours 05/27/06 the decision was made to begin searching Saturday night. The woman was found outside the search area Sunday afternoon Other teams invloved on the search included New Jersey Initial Response Team, Central Jersey Technical Rescue Team, New York Search and Rescue, the New Jersey State Police, the Sussex County Sheriff's Department, the Sussex Office of Emergency Management, the Hardyston Police Department, the Hardyston Fire Department, the Hardyston Office of Emergency Management, the Jefferson Township Dive team and their mutual aid dive teams, and the Sussex County CERT team.

NJSAR responded to Ramapo Reservation in Mahwah, NJ for a search for a missing hiker who had used his cell phone to tell his wife he was lost. She reported that to the Bergen County Parks Dept. and they activated NJSAR. The hiker was found shortly after the search began. While in the park, the team also helped evacuate a man suffering from the effects of over-exhertion in the heat of that day.
